A few comments:

1) you're doing a great job, and I _think_ the spam is already declining.
2) I think zero tolerance is the only answer. I've got a substantial set of
kill filters (all caps, <5 crossposts, adjacent newsgroups, etc) and the
stuff still gets through. (Meanwhile, the stuff that _is_ being filtered is
still cluttering up the internet.) I'm going to set up a new messagebase
_just_ for asc, with no filters, and join you in the trenches later this
week. 

Maybe enough of us can make a difference.
